Helping your kids discover that Jesus is the true reason for Christmas.

Hi, friends!

We would love to share with you the backstory of Abel in the Stable, and how God has guided us in creating this fun, family Christmas tradition.

Several years ago, our church’s preschool director’s kids came to her wanting to have a fun way to countdown to Christmas. They had heard of different traditions, but she didn’t want the season to be about whether her kids were naughty or nice. She wanted her kids to be focused on Jesus and the wonderful story of why He came to this earth to be born as a baby.

After looking at different advent activities, she began to wonder, “What if we created an exciting way to learn about the true meaning of Christmas each day in December leading up to the 25th?”

She brought up the idea to her co-workers at Hardin Baptist Church (We all loved it!), and the brainstorming sessions began.

We launched Abel in the Stable to our church families, they shared it with others, and each year it has grown! Through God’s guidance and with the help of some talented church friends, we wrote and illustrated a storybook  and Family Advent guide, composed a song, and even created a stuffed donkey.

Our desire is to help families during this busy season keep Jesus as the focus. Abel in the Stable has become the tradition we were wanting for our families. It is geared toward preschool through younger elementary age kids, but it is fun for the whole family. We pray more and more kids will come alongside Abel and enjoy discovering that Jesus is the reason for the season.
